Sun-Safe Mama and Baby

If you guys follow my blog, you’d probably know how much Baby K and I love to be outdoors. The weather in the place we live in though 🙄 isn’t being quite merciful for some time now.

Does that mean we should stop going outside? How are we going to drain the abundance of energy the little one wakes up with? We are obviously not sitting at home but what we do is that we try our best to stay precautionary and safe in this scorching summer sun. The two things that I am extremely particular about, for both baby K and myself are –

a) To keep ourselves hydrated – water, lemon water, coconut water are few things that are a part of our daily staples. We try to sip one or the other thing every half an hour (and/or when needed) to make sure our bodies don’t lose out on the water quotient. I try to keep each one of these things completely accessible and in sight of baby K so that he never misses out on them.

b) To keep our skin safe – sun protection is a major thing for me. I hate to wear makeup on regular days, to avoid my problem skin get agitated and the only thing that’s usually on my face is the La Shield IR Sunscreen gel.

It was referred to me by a dermatologist and I totally swear by it since it’s everything my skin loves. It is protective, non sticky, light, oil free and gel based.

Price – 600 ₹ on Amazon

For the baby – I have been using the Mamaearth sun protectant ever since it was launched. It can be used from age 0-10 years. It is completely safe, mild and non sticky (I have this thing for non sticky, having an oily skin type). I have witnessed that dabbing the sunscreen on his sun exposed areas keeps his sensitive skin non irritable and protected. I absolutely trust this brand and am satisfied with it’s body lotion, body wash and toothpaste that I have been using on the baby as well. The sun protectant is hypoallergenic and chemical free and also very importantly, it is artificial fragrance free which is why I can use it on his face.

Price – 251₹ on Amazon.

MIGHTY MUMS MEET UP

June 23rd, along with various mom bloggers of in and around Delhi, the little one and I were invited to this super interesting event held by Palmers India and hosted by Funderland India.

Before I begin with the how abouts of the event, I’d like to draw your attention to how much fun my little chap had and I’m so glad we were a part of this event.

The reason for this happiness is the gala time we had at this indoor play area. Funderland not only impressed me with its facilities but also how warm the staff is. Every wish that was made by either the moms or the kids, was immediately fulfilled, thanks to the co-owner and Senior MD – Mr. Mayank Aggarwal, who made it a point to personally look after each and every one of our requirements.

What I liked most about Funderland is its hygiene (socks only policy) as soon as you enter the place and how they have divided the area for various activities so thoughtfully.

Seeing a ball pool the moment we entered the place made my little one so excited, he pulled his shoes off and dived into it immediately. A lovely carousel, tattoo artist, trampoline are few of the many activities available to keep the little ones occupied for hours. The kinetic sand pool kept him hooked for the longest time, post which the tattoo artist grabbed his attention and I felt free-er than ever. The staff is so courteous, they took care of him while I was busy with the moms meet up.

I also cant miss talking about the scrumptious snacks and meals we were offered during the course of the event, with extremely sincere staff who thoughtfully planned the meals to the T such that the moms and kids both could enjoy the same meal. The best part, they had the oreo shake for the kids and yum cold coffee for mums, that took my heart.

Not to forget the fact that Funderland has so much to do in the most reasonable prices and also some great deals for kids birthday parties and get togethers.

Apart from so much for the kiddo, there was a lot more for me too. Palmers, a brand that most moms are well aware of, especially during our pregnancies, introduced some new range of products. We have used their cocoa butter and stretch marks cream as a saviour during our pregnancy but what interested me here was the skin therapy oil. Loaded with vitamin E it heals problem skin with dark spots and lines and wrinkles, a must have for anyone above 30. Palmers was so generous with gifting all moms and kids goodie boxes with so lovely shampoos, lotions, conditioners and what not. All this is easily available on the Nykaa.com website.

If all that wasn’t enough, the gorgeous Dr Mahima Bakshi was there to chit chat with the moms discussing our pregnancies and diet and skin care related issues. She introduced her new book called Birthing Naturally, which is available on amazon.in and I’m sure is a great buy for expecting moms considering how well versed she is with the subject, being a lactation consultant too.

Run mommy run! but don’t let your make up do that

MAC Studio fix powder plus foundation is an absolute necessity for my skin.

I’m always carrying it around in my bag wherever I go, for touch ups.

My skin depends on this so much because:1) my skin is super oily and this holds my makeup in place. I also use it just over the sunscreen on regular days and it works wonders.

2) Delhi summers are so hot and humid, I definitely need something for the face that is light and keeps my liner and mascara from getting runny.

3) It is a quick solution to ‘be ready in 5’ because it is so hassle free to put on (very important reason for moms to own this🤣)

This is my forever favourite buy from MAC and I totally recommend this.

Healthy mornings

Mornings done right for this little guy, who’s abundantly in love with coconut water.

Coconut water is by far his mummy’s fave drink too, mainly because of the lovely health benefits it offers. Extremely hydrating and a wonderful source of nutrients and antioxidants, we love to make it a part of our diets everyday.

Baby Dove Head to Toe wash – Review

Cold weather is very harsh on babies’ skins, because of which their skin loses it’s natural moisture.

These winters I experienced baby K’s skin becoming extremely dry and rough, also because the hot water baths wash away the skin’s natural oils leaving a flaky skin. I was looking for something mild yet rich to use for his sensitive baby skin, when I came across Dove range of baby products. The hair to toe baby wash was my most instant + necessary buy for him.

.

Dove has been a well known brand, focussing on keeping the skin’s moisture levels balanced because of being extremely creamy in texture, which was exactly what Baby K needed. I loved how his skin got the suppleness from using this body wash, even without using a body lotion. The moisture remained intact and it was quite evident while touching and feeling his skin.

We have nearly exhausted using the first bottle that we purchased and we are looking forward to ordering it again.

I ordered Dove Head to Toe Baby Wash from Nykaa for ₹ 239 for 400 ml.

Sun protectant I swear by

“An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure”.

UV rays, pollution and harsh weather conditions do more harm to our skin than we imagine.

I absolutely swear by using La Shield Sunscreen Gel SPF 40, on my extremely sensitive skin before stepping out in the sun to provide protection to my exposed skin areas, usually the face and back of my hands. This was suggested to me during a dermatologist visit and I have never stopped using it.

My skin loves the non greasy texture of La Shield because most sun protectants are extremely sticky and leave my already oily skin looking like an oil factory 🙄. On the contrary, this one has the texture similar to the Benefit Porefessional, giving the feels of using a makeup primers. I have totally skipped using primers while using this because it controls my oil glands so much, my make up doesn’t get runny.

Initially I thought it was a little pricey because I paid ₹730 for this 60g tube that doesn’t last too long but it’s worth every penny for my thirty something mom skin. Totally recommend using this one.

Clarins Lotus face treatment oil

Not very often, do I come across skincare products that suit me right in every possible way.

▶️Clarins Lotus Face Treatment Oil is one such product.

.

.

🆗I have never had the most perfect or ‘flawless’ skin ever, always been oily+acne prone and extremely sensitive.

.

.

▶️Post having a baby, it worsened, may be because of sleep deprivation. In search of a brand new, post-baby, night care regimen, I came across this face treatment oil. The guy gave me a little sample which I reluctantly accepted (because oil on my skin ), upon his advice and because it specifically read-for oily or combination skin. I used it as suggested, 2-3 drops rubbed on the palms and placed on the face without extreme massaging.

.

.

▶️It smelled great, I didn’t get any break outs so it was worth a try. I got this bottle and I haven’t regretted at all. Continuous use has made my skin more even toned, definitely. It makes the skin supple and hydrated and helps get rid of dark spots.

.

.

▶️Costed me 3300₹ for this 30 ml glass bottle (very delicate to handle) which I believe is reasonable considering this goes a long way.
